GREETINGS and A Blessed New Year Cheer To You!

Hello, (your name) and thank you for your recent inquiries concerning VOLUNTEER opportunities that our organization shares with the Rhode Island Volunteer Center and our web page.

The JAYCEES run many interesting programs throughout the year and are always searching to find new and exciting members, coordinators and volunteers!

One of our mainstays (outside of the beauty and awe of the Holiday Season) is  the unfolding of Springtime, we initiate with the RIDEM, the thirty(30) year EARTH DAY action plan for areawide cleanups, recycling efforts, litter prevention and the overall public health concerns of our communities.

We also hold an ECOLOGY DAY Weekend Festival that incorporates the cultivation efforts of ARBOR DAY in planting 'zone-applied' beautiful and colorful flowers along the JAYCEE CORRIDOR & ARBORETUM. We also incorporate into this event, while working with both military and religious groups to conduct a Peace Day Ceremony for all to share and celebrate. The Esplanade is a beautiful park-like lane that forms  the entrance to the state Senator Donald Roch RIVERWALK, which parallels the confluence of the North & South Branches of the Pawtuxet River. Through the kindness of local sponsors, we throw a hearty pizza and soda party for all those attendees to show our grateful appreciation.

During the long, hot Summer, we interact  with employees from large corporations as a 'CORPORATE CARES DAY(s)', which fortifies our continuous responsibilities of tending to the plants, tress and shrubbery that comprises the JAYCEE Corridor & Arboretum. through a 'WEED-A-THON' and community 'BUCKET-BRIGADE'. We always need assistance for that project(s).

In the Fall, our ' MAKE-A-DIFFERENCE DAY' festival has us joining up with state college students, scouts and other Volunteers to have an Autumn festival of plantings, raking, fence painting,  recreational restoration and all the hiking, jogging and health & beauty walking you can imagine (or choose to do) along the intersectional West Bay Bikepath ("Greenway"), the JAYCEE Corridor & Arboretum and the state Senator Donald Roch RIVERWALK.

That's just a sampling of some of the 'environmental-oriented' projects that we do
and try to encourage for community interaction, healthy behavioral patterns, horticultural benefits and simply overall fun!

We have had two(2) Eagle Scout projects conducted at the JAYCEE Corridor & Arboretum: the initial event to actually clear the land and establish ornamental plant life and the construction of an Oversized ARBOR, to designate the opening to the Senator Roch RIVERWALK through the portal entrance of the JAYCEE Corridor & Arboretum. We also coordinated two(2) additional Eagle Scout Projects recently that erected some great looking signage attached to the entrance of the Arbor-Trellis portal.

The JAYCEES are also strong supporters and practitioners for Mentoring programing. governmental affairs roundtables and the nationwide Family Volunteer Day!

Additionally, during the holidays, we hold TOLLROADS, Group Home/Nursing Facility visitations along with direct contributions to soup kitchens, grocery pantries and the Food Bank, which provides many satisfying memories in simply brightening a person's life!

The JAYCEES have also been excellent 'Mentors' to kids of all ages with their association through Junior Achievement of Rhode Island and related programs that add another societal dimension to young committed community leaders. This can include the nationally recognized program, (J)AYCEES (A)gainst (Y)outh (S)moking or (JAYS).

Our chapter here in the Kent County area is also open to many types of ideas and suggestions in creating new and different programming that will add to the diversity and quality of volunteer project management the JAYCEES have been famous for in the fifty(50) year history.

We would be most pleased to have you speak with our Executive Director, Jack Lancellotta (401) 828-9191 at your convenience about setting a program up that can be adaptable for your volunteer needs.

All volunteers UNDER 18 M U S T have parental authorization!

Thank you again for your friendly inquiries to JAYCEE {The United States Junior Chamber of Commerce} Volunteer Opportunities and please do keep us in mind for your leisure time and project requirements of participation and enjoyment.

BEST WISHES!
                                                                        Yours in JAYCEE Public Service,
                                                                         Ronald H. Holloway, Chairman
