Plant MULCHING @ the JCS ARBORETUM

Here are some of the benefits provided by mulching:

^ retains soil moisture

^ more visually appealing

^ encourages & rewards soil microbes and invertebrates

^ reduces weed & turf growth

^ prevents mower & string  trimmer blight

^ prevents soil temperature extremes

^ increases soil fertility

^ improves soil structure

Life in the ArboretumMulch all the way to the dripline if you really want to   minimize the influence of turf (allelopathic & competition for nutrients/water/space). Depth around 3 inches

When mulch kills! Be CAREFUL!!!

AVOID  volcano mulch...  applying over 3 inches ...  contact with the trunk ... 'sour' mulch
